COLIN CUNNINGHAM

Director/Producer/Writer

Perhaps better known for his role as Brian Curtis on *DaVincis Inquest*, Colin Cunningham has been a professional actor for the last 15 years. Having been seen in everything from the *X-Files* to *Elektra* to *Best in Show*, Cunningham now makes his mark as a first time director in CENTIGRADE.

Unsure as to whether he wanted to take on so much, Cunningham also served as the films Writer and lead Actor. It was certainly an idea that challenged him in terms of ability. “I was curious to see if I could pull it off. And I think I did… At least that’s what the orderlies told me when I woke up in the psych ward.”

Having produced Centigrade on a shoestring, “Our budget was what *Blair Witch* paid for catering,” the film has so far qualified for an Academy Award by taking BEST SHORT at Cinequest, won 5 LEO AWARDS (British Columbia Film Awards) including BEST SHORT, BEST DIRECTOR and BEST ACTOR and took the award for BEST ACTOR at Method Fest.

Colin’s early behind the scenes credits include producing and directing a dozen stage plays and yet another dozen music videos for Much Music and CMT (Country Music Television), but Cunningham is most often known for his work as writer, producer and star of the indie cult classic *ZACHARIA FARTED*.

After leaving Los Angeles in 1993, Colin crossed the border into Vancouver, Canada and never looked back. Having graduated from the Vancouver Film School, Colin began working on nobudgetprojects solely for the “Experience and strong coffee.”, but before long started up his own film and television production company. *Zacharia* went on to win a total of 3 ‘Audience Favourite’ awards (Palm Springs International Film Festival, Sedona International Film Festival and Victoria Independent Film Festival, Munich International Film Festival) as it played throughout Canada, the U.S. and Europe. The film also received a total of 5 Leo Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Editing, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design and Best Musical Score. And was the only Canadian film to screen along side Roberto Benigni’s *Life is Beautiful* at The American Film Institute.

But lately, it is CENTIGRADE that has been taking up the bigger part of his day. The film has so far qualified for an ACADEMY AWARD by winning BEST SHORT at Cinequest, picked up 5 LEO AWARDS (including BEST SHORT) and well over a dozen ‘Best Of’ nominations. As a Director, Colin is in development of *Centigrade: The Feature* which is slated to shoot in 2009 and as an actor you will have most recently seen him starring in Douglas Coupland’s *jPod* for the CBC.
