What a ride. God, that was great.

Hasn't ended yet, but still. What a blast.

We didn't get the Academy Award Nomination.

Gonna sound nuts, but there's a real sweet ring to that. Think I'm going to say it again. "We did not get the ACADEMY AWARD NOMINATION!!!

Booo Hoooo!

HA!!! How many people out there can say such a thing? A very precious few indeed. I swear if I wasn't laughing so hard I'd be dancing on top of the Vancouver Film School.

CENTIGRADE has traveled the world. Won more than a few blue-ribbon keepsakes, critical acclaim, strolled its share of red carpets and made internet history. It also qualified and made the short list for an Academy nomination. Not bad. We've learned so much and met some great people. But, perhaps more importantly, we've been vindicated. For as much as we've had many good souls in our court, there have also been many out there that secretly wished us cancer.

It's not something you really blog, but it's an interesting phenomenon to say the least. Success is great, just so long as it's not yours. Ah, people.

Which brings me to what may perhaps be my last entry for a little while. This blog has been going on for quite some time and we SO much appreciate your coming by to visit. To check on the films progress etc. But the big day, Oscar Nomination Day, has now come and gone. And well, that's a good enough milestone to move on a bit.

Time to make another film!

We'll keep you posted on what we're up to. (Centigrade is still in the running for a GENIE, 'Canadian Academy Award'!)

But on behalf of Madison, James, Derrick, Brianne, Jonathan and myself, we just wanted to say 'Thank You' once again.

The above picture was sent to me by Eileen Hoeter. A filmmaker and wonderful supporter of mine for well over 14 years. It was actually the first e-mail I received this morning and well, I think it pretty much sums up the magic of the last 2 years.

Thanks Eileen.
And thank you all.

CENTIGRADE has just become the fastest live action short ever to break the iTUNES 'TOP TEN' (not just in the US, but the UK and CANADA as well. All Top Ten.)

Not only has the film been ranked at #2 in Shorts, but has also just gone on to break the Top Ten in 'OVERALL' film downloads. That includes 'features'. Multi-million dollar studio films such as IRON MAN and INDIANA JONES, etc.

In short, CENTIGRADE has just become the ONLY short on Apples list of Hollywood's biggest budgeted and most successful money makers.

Thank you ALL.

How cool is that?

Sincerely,
Colin and Madison

We're now looking at next week. And still very much excited.

So, thanks again everyone. To Shorts International and iTunes, you guys are the best.

And to Anson Williams, great work as Potsy Webber.

12 BILLION DOLLARS

This week we made our 'formal' submission to the [Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences](http://www.oscars.org). Our hope? An Oscar nomination.

And so, 22 months of blood, sweat and tears was handed across a young woman's desk in Beverly Hills... and into God's hands. Nothing more we can do now. Insane to think we even got this far. The yay or nay comes in December. Wish us luck.

I look back on the first blog ever written on this project and I can only smile. I'm glad I've written as much as I have. Granted, the material has often veered into numerous rants about people, places and things. After all, the world doesn't revolve around something as silly as a movie. Certainly not mine. But since my first musings went global, people have died, babies have been born and the 'little film that could' has simply refused to go quietly into the night.

Never in our wildest dreams did we expect to be here. It's truly so very hard to articulate the history of this project. 22 months ago Madison Graie mouthed 6 fateful words, "You still got that Fahrenheit script?" and nothing has ever been the same.

6 words. 22 months. 76 Blogs. 6 Countries. 17 Festivals. 10 'Best of' Nominations. 8 'Best of' Awards. 1 'Honorable Mention'. And '1' Academy Award Qualifier.

The 'road to hell' is paved with quite the tally. Today, I'd like to add one more.

12 Billion.

Today, we announce perhaps the greatest of all news.

**CENTIGRADE HAS BEEN FORMALLY SIGNED TO... [iTunes](http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewMovie?id=292728636&s=143441)!!!!

YEEEEEE HAAAAAA!!

Not only that, but **CENTIGRADE** is the **FIRST** Canadian 'Live Action' Short Film to have ever made it into iTunes!! We've made history!

Currently, the only way to get into iTunes, is to be signed by distributor [SHORTS INTERNATIONAL](http://www.britshorts.com) (which we have). A trick in itself. And if should you be able to pull that one off, your film has then to go through another judging process to be considered for iTunes. Well, we did it.

CENTIGRADE will go global on the 21st of this month for iTunes UK, CANADA and US. as part of iTunes and Shorts International's HALLOWEEN HELL MONTH and we are going to be doing everything we can to help grease the rails. We are currently setting up Centigrade Facebook and My Space pages and when the film finally goes online, we would ask that you might 'link' us to any club, group or networking system you have. It would be so incredibly appreciated. The more 'hits' the film gets... well, you know the drill.

Just think about it! CENTIGRADE could become the biggest money maker of all time!!
6 billion people @ 2 dollars a download... that's 12 BILLION DOLLARS.

*We will also be concurrently offering the DVD for sale (autographed if you'd like) right here on the Centigrade website. Again, all later this month.

And so, the Producers would like to make the following offer. Should Centigrade hit the 12 Billion dollar mark, we promise to fly everyone (and their families) who have ever supported the film to a great big Centigrade 'party' in Hawaii. Not only that, but when they get there they will take possession of a brand new JEEP WRANGLER!!!

Or, if you prefer, we could all split the 12 Billion between us. Figure it should still come out to about 50 - 60 million a piece. (Or, like I said... the Wrangler.)

So, this is the month to do it everyone.

October.

Halloween.

CENTIGRADE goes global.

And when it does (on the 14th), we will simply announce it by issuing the following,

"The Road to Hell - IS LIVE."

Big 'thank yous' once again to our cast and crew. Derrick Garland, Jonathan Tyrrell, Ron Sauve, John Penhall, Martin Wood, Simon Young, John Smith, the DGC, British Columbia Film, Paul Sharpe, Fulvio Cesere, Kal Suurkask, Brianne McQuair, Rob Hienbecker, Kevin Hall, Mark and Claudia Rickerby... the list goes on and on.

And of course to anybody who's ever come to this site to borrow a cup of sugar.

Thank you ALL.

Keep you posted.

Sincerely,

Colin and Madison

A year ago I unabashedly declared that CENTIGRADE would change the world! Well hush my mouth and call me cornpone!!

Last September we celebrated our Vancouver premiere by having a wing dinger at a restaurant called Lickerish. Our Script Supervisor, Kristine Erlendson was there. And so was a dashing young man by the name of Steve Catlin.

It was their first date.

And by the time the evening was over, they had both fallen madly, head over heals in love.

And well, love birds did as love birds do... and guess what? We got ourselves a couple of babies!

And so to Mom and Dad, we say CONGRATULATIONS.

And to 'Khrystian' and 'Spencer', welcome to Canada!

In a day when the populous is herded about by shepherds wearing no underwear, I doubt many do. Sure, they remember the number. Most children can dial it. Hell, there was a minute there when it was almost nostalgic to lament on where you were, etc. But few still have ever had the courage to tell you exactly 'what' they recall. Wouldn't want to offend anybody.

Shhh.

Keep it to yourself.

And so, today, we'll all stand together quietly and recall. Take that minute of silence at work and remember.

What? Your place of work didn't have one?

Huh. Neither did mine. In fact, come to think of it, I went the entire day and not a soul even mentioned it. Barely a mention of it on the radio. Heard about Brittany at the MTV Music Awards. That was cool. But little of that days recorded radio traffic between firefighters (all dead) and those choking to death (all dead). Kind of 'get's in the way' of Lindsey Lohan I suppose.

But, you know what? My memory's still pretty good.

Here's what I remember.

I remember those that 'cheered' as my friends were incinerated or leaped to their deaths. (Shhh. Don't say 'Palestinians'.) Some leaped alone. Others hand in hand. It's how we go through life after all, isn't it? Alone, or hand in hand? Though I doubt but few of us have the courage to do it from the top of one of the tallest buildings in the world.

I remember the sound of unanswered cell phones ringing in the rubble. The scrambling of jets whose pilots had orders to shoot down planes filled with their neighbors. I remember the guy who told me, "You can't say they didn't have it coming."

Ahh, yes. I remember him.

Only 'I' remember these things every time I forget to check my toothpaste at the airport (and they take it away.) I remember as I watch the little old lady when she's padded down and told to remove her shoes. Then of course, it's hard to miss those who preach tolerance, but blame America when they get 'pancakes' instead of waffles.

Now, I'd like to take the more prophetic road and note that those who choose 'not' to remember the throats slit that day, shall slice open their own. To watch them load up on matches, then lay upon their beds of hay. Usually, I'd let them go without a thought, except that I live in the apartment above them.

So instead... Instead, I think I'll take my minute of silence and tune it to something else.

Rage.

I can spend the rest of the day in tribute. But for a minute... just a minute. I will hate this day and those responsible. For to 'not' hate such a thing, is to remember nothing. And to not remember, is to be as dead as those who jumped from the 106th.

So, take your minute.

I took mine.

And if you're so inclined, break out the Red, White and Blue. The Maple Leaf. Or just the family photo album. Flags come in many shapes and sizes. But take note, it's just for today. Flag's are fine, but tomorrow you're best to take it down. Don't want to piss off the illegal living across the street. He votes too.

But today?
Today it's 'cool'. Today, you can care.

Alone.
Or, hand in hand.

CROSSBOW

When at the Jackson Hole Film Festival, I'd mentioned a number of films that got stuck in my soul.

CUTE COUPLE by Courtney Balaker. REWIND by Atul Taishete and CROSSBOW by David Michod.

All shorts. And ALL, better, smarter and more thought provoking than anything I've seen in a very, very long time. Empowered and validated, I was once again reminded by what 'cannot' be done for fifty million.

Well, I found [CROSSBOW](http://odeo.com/episodes/23116177-DAVID-MICHOD-Crossbow).

This film is of adult content and is played best at home, in the dark, with a good set of headphones.

See you in 14 minutes.
