12 BILLION DOLLARS

| | Comments (10)

2007AcademyAwardStatue.jpgThis week we made our ‘formal’ submission to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Our hope? An Oscar nomination.

And so, 22 months of blood, sweat and tears was handed across a young woman’s desk in Beverly Hills… and into God’s hands. Nothing more we can do now. Insane to think we even got this far. The yay or nay comes in December. Wish us luck.

I look back on the first blog ever written on this project and I can only smile. I’m glad I’ve written as much as I have. Granted, the material has often veered into numerous rants about people, places and things. After all, the world doesn’t revolve around something as silly as a movie. Certainly not mine. But since my first musings went global, people have died, babies have been born and the ‘little film that could’ has simply refused to go quietly into the night.

Never in our wildest dreams did we expect to be here. It’s truly so very hard to articulate the history of this project. 22 months ago Madison Graie mouthed 6 fateful words, “You still got that Fahrenheit script?” and nothing has ever been the same.

6 words. 22 months. 76 Blogs. 6 Countries. 17 Festivals. 10 ‘Best of’ Nominations. 8 ‘Best of’ Awards. 1 ‘Honorable Mention’. And ‘1’ Academy Award Qualifier.

The ‘road to hell’ is paved with quite the tally. Today, I’d like to add one more.

12 Billion.

Today, we announce perhaps the greatest of all news.

**CENTIGRADE HAS BEEN FORMALLY SIGNED TO… iTunes!!!!

YEEEEEE HAAAAAA!!

Not only that, but CENTIGRADE is the FIRST Canadian ‘Live Action’ Short Film to have ever made it into iTunes!! We’ve made history!

Currently, the only way to get into iTunes, is to be signed by distributor SHORTS INTERNATIONAL (which we have). A trick in itself. And if should you be able to pull that one off, your film has then to go through another judging process to be considered for iTunes. Well, we did it.

CENTIGRADE will go global on the 21st of this month for iTunes UK, CANADA and US. as part of iTunes and Shorts International’s HALLOWEEN HELL MONTH and we are going to be doing everything we can to help grease the rails. We are currently setting up Centigrade Facebook and My Space pages and when the film finally goes online, we would ask that you might ‘link’ us to any club, group or networking system you have. It would be so incredibly appreciated. The more ‘hits’ the film gets… well, you know the drill.

Just think about it! CENTIGRADE could become the biggest money maker of all time!! 6 billion people @ 2 dollars a download… that’s 12 BILLION DOLLARS.

*We will also be concurrently offering the DVD for sale (autographed if you’d like) right here on the Centigrade website. Again, all later this month.

And so, the Producers would like to make the following offer. Should Centigrade hit the 12 Billion dollar mark, we promise to fly everyone (and their families) who have ever supported the film to a great big Centigrade ‘party’ in Hawaii. Not only that, but when they get there they will take possession of a brand new JEEP WRANGLER!!!

Or, if you prefer, we could all split the 12 Billion between us. Figure it should still come out to about 50 - 60 million a piece. (Or, like I said… the Wrangler.)

So, this is the month to do it everyone.

October.

Halloween.

CENTIGRADE goes global.

And when it does (on the 14th), we will simply announce it by issuing the following,

“The Road to Hell - IS LIVE.”

Big ‘thank yous’ once again to our cast and crew. Derrick Garland, Jonathan Tyrrell, Ron Sauve, John Penhall, Martin Wood, Simon Young, John Smith, the DGC, British Columbia Film, Paul Sharpe, Fulvio Cesere, Kal Suurkask, Brianne McQuair, Rob Hienbecker, Kevin Hall, Mark and Claudia Rickerby… the list goes on and on.

And of course to anybody who’s ever come to this site to borrow a cup of sugar.

Thank you ALL.

Keep you posted.

Sincerely,

Colin and Madison

This is FANTASTIC news, Colin. I’ll definitely put out the good word on my LJ and you can bet I’ll be jumping onto the FaceBook page as well. You can keep the Wrangler. Besides the cost of shipping the thing to New York from Hawaii, I can’t drive a stick shift!

I’ve been a fan of this “little movie that could” since Shore Leave 2007. I planned on purchasing one of the copies you were selling even before you presented it to us all that Saturday afternoon. When I saw it on the big screen I was, however, completely captivated by it. I watched it again, just recently, on a much smaller screen (aka my old tv) and it’s still incredible.

The copy you sold then was without the final shot. I can only imagine how good it is now. I don’t know if I’ll download it from iTunes (my monitor is worse than my tv), but I’ll definitely purchase the DVD - with or without the signature!

Congratulations to you and Madison. I wish nothing but continued success for you both. Hopefully, you’ll give me a reason to actually watch the Oscars next spring.

Congratulations! That is awesome news. Please post a blog soon with links and image codes so I can start advertising on the sites I’m a member of. If you haven’t done so already, you should make a “banner” for Centigrade’s itunes download page and post the html code here so everyone can put it on their personal websites, webpages, blogs, etc. There are a lot of websites where you can create banners. I’m not exactly a techie but I’ve got a bit of experience with creating banners, online advertising, etc., so just let me know what I can do. Good luck!

I am so very thrilled for you and Madison, Colin!!! Your combined efforts, energies, and talents have taken you to this day, and will carry you through even more adventures. Guaranteed there will be Oscar parties around the globe in your honor if the Academy is intelligent enough to chose your “little film that could”. :-)

And while I already own it on DVD, I’ll download it from iTunes as well, just so you can have a trip to Hawaii!

Hugs and congratulations my friend!!

Wow, Colin, that is amazing news! I will certainly keep the good thought for you re: the Academy Awards - I’ve always dreamed of having an Oscar of my own, not that that is very likely at this point in time, but an Oscar is definitely in the cards for YOU and for “Centigrade”!

When you have them ready, I will happily post links on every site that I possibly can. I’m not too great with the computer stuff though, so please make something that we can copy and paste or something clickable etc.

As for the Jeep, well that is a nice thought and all, but you won’t need one for moi, I do not drive, so you can just reinvest that money! Seriously though, to get you closer to that 12 Billion : I’m not sure I will be able to download it from iTunes, not with my glacially slow internet connection. Of course, I will TRY to buy the download anyway….but in any event, definitely put me down for purchasing several copies of the DVD. Like Sally above, my copy is one of your earlier 2007 versions (I bought mine in Vancouver at The Legendary Gathering 2007).

Does happy dance thinking of Colin and Madison at the Academy Awards, accepting their Oscar for “Centigrade” !

Congratulations! Colin and Madison. You’ve put your heart and soul into this project and it’s fantastic to see that it’s being recognized for the great work that it is. I’ll certainly help promote Centigrade to friends when it goes live on iTunes.
Colin (and the producers too) – you are too generous. Keep the billions and make another keeper movie. Good Luck on nomination day.

Um, you may want to double-check the coding for the banners. I took the large one, plastered it over my Live Journal, and didn’t realise until just now there was an error in the code.

There’s an extra http// in the link back to this blog so the link goes nowhere in reality. That 12 billion dollars might be a little easier to obtain if the path to it doesn’t end in a dead-end.

But hey, it is said that the road to hell is paved with good intentions ;)

Thank you, Sally. More haste, less speed I’m afraid.

The code is fixed now.
