Happy Independence Day to all Americans, ESPECIALLY the American troops fighting side by side with the Australians in Iraq and Afghanistan.
I even heard the American National Anthem on the radio this morning when I was driving to work, they threw in a couple of duck quacks and fart noise sound effects to go along with it (Aussies will be Aussies, love us or hate us, you ain’t never gunna change us) but the goodwill and best wishes were VERY sincere.
Americans are our dearest allies, something that was made crystal clear to me many years ago at the Perth Royal Show at the Australian Defence Force Marquis. Under the heading of something like “Australians Are Ready For Your Attack” it waffled on for a bit about our defence set up, but I will never forget the last sentence that went something along the lines of (my paraphrase)
“and besides…… If you bastards mess with us, our American big brothers are going to come down and kick your stinkin’ arses to timbuktu”
ROFL! Colin, that is too funny! I love the way you put that. It’s so true but said in your every hilarious style! I hope I get to see you out on the con circuit this year.
