NEWS!
Sippy’s dead. And that’s a drag for a couple of reasons.
One, he’s dead. And two, nobody knows who the hell I’m talking about.
G.P. Sippy was a director. And a damn good one. An icon in Hindi cinema, the mans work was an inspiration to millions and I was one of them. Unfortunately, to appreciate his contribution to film one would either have to be a fan of Bollywood cinema, a hard core cinefile or a guy who once moved into an apartment and found a giant box of the guy’s movies left behind by the previous tenant.
Anyway, I’ll not lament on his passing. I’m bummed enough to see that al-Qaeda just set Pakistan back a hundred years. But, I thought it was worth a mention. All one can do now is wait for some nut bag to blame both events on George Bush.
Aside from that, there is some CENTIGRADE news. We’ve just been selected to screen at both the SANTA BARBARA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL and CINEQUEST (San Jose)! Both are Oscar qualifiers and any reason to hang out in California is always a good thing.
Aside from that, wishing every one out there a Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and may you pick lots of corn out of your Quanza.
And thanks Sippy. Thanks for Sholay.
Thanks for the movies.

Happy (normal) New Year to you too Colin.
Congrats on the new film festivals.
Been watching the “8th Season of DVI” here in the Chicagoland area, I was wondering where you’ve been hiding…
